Story: Rebecca is the mother of 4 young children and full-time caregiver to her husband, who suffered a stroke in September 2016. The family lives in a rural area, and Rebecca is the only driver to get kids to school, husband to doctors appointments, etc. They had no insurance at the time of his stroke and will not have coverage until January 1.
Request: Rebecca says, “Our biggest need right now is for help getting the house clean and back in order, and possibly gift cards to HEB for groceries, gas and prescriptions. We lost all income as we had our own small business, and though my husband has been approved for social security disability, we are awaiting the family application process at this time.”

Story: Jamie is the mother of 7-year-old Liam. He has a severe muscular dystrophy called Nemaline Myopathy. He can not move and requires assistance with all aspects of life including breathing. He needs care 24 hours of the day.
Request: Jamie says, “Liam can not move and has no muscle tone. I am his arms and legs. He continues to grow and caring for him has taken a physical toll on my body. I am constantly in positions that put strain on my back and hips. I see a chiropractor but have recently had to cut back on my visits. Chiropractic visits or massages would be a wonderful gift to help alleviate the pain and stress that is put on my back.”

We are taking it one step at a time!”
